The only one who holds the throne of Sultan Bulungan in the right order is His Highness Sultan Maulana Muhamad Mamun. After decades of living and being a Malaysian citizen, the noble Sultan of Bulungan X Maulana Muhammad Al Ma'mun Ibnu Sultan Maulana Muhammad Djalaluddin, wanted to return to Indonesia and settled in Bulungan, North Kalimantan. During his stay in Tawau, he was met by expats and others from both Malaysia and Indonesia who questioned his desire to return to Indonesia, especially since President Suharto's reign was over and the presiding president welcomed his return. Accompanied by his beloved wife, the noble Sultanah Harna Ismail expressed this intention, which was also witnessed by the relatives of the obstacle in Bulungan, both in Tanjung Palas and Tanjung Selor. After living in Tawau which now belongs to Malaysia, he has also been granted Malaysian citizenship. To obtain Indonesian citizenship, the 4th Sultan of Bulungan with his wife, Sultanah Empress I Aminah son of Abdul Rahman, Sultanah Empress II Siti Harna bint Ismail and son of Sultan Raja Abdul Jalal, accompanied the Deputy Governor of North Kalimantan, Udin Hianggio to the Director General's Office Immigration in Jakarta to submit a citizenship. This desire was also welcomed by the Regent and was willing to help the Sultan rebuild the imperial palace in Bulungan.
