A rising chef and a recently divorced woman are forever changed when a chance meeting brings them together in a deeply moving decade-long romance. I just finished watching We Live in Time (2024) and I have to tell you that this is truly one of the most emotional and realistic romance movies I’ve seen in a while.Positives about We Live in Time (2024) : Both Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh are phenomenal in this movie.It’s really not surprising considering to the fact that the two have been nominated for Oscars in the past and I hope they both get nominations this year.I appreciated that this movie managed to tell the love story of two strangers who fall in love with each other in a realistic way.Don’t me get it wrong, I enjoy my fair share of romance movies where two lovers meet in the most cynical and funny way possible, but at the same time I love when a movie approaches those stories in a more realistic fashion. The things these two characters go through in this film manage to be touching, devastating, and even healthy, depending on which scenes those moments take place. I also appreciated that this film manages to maintain a balance in those moments where they don’t feel overly dramatic or overly emotional to the point where it feels like we’re cringing. And finally, I like how the film’s ending manages to avoid all the traditional clichés of other romance films, while giving the audience the satisfaction they want to see in this film. Mixed for We Live in Time (2024) : While I certainly appreciated the path this film took with its story, there will be some people who will probably have a hard time watching this film. Now to be fair, the film achieved its primary goals with the approach, but it might also hit hard for some people who have gone through similar situations in their lives. Negatives for We Live in Time (2024): I have only one thing to say about this film in this region and it is very little. This is a movie I can only see myself watching once and that’s it. But if this element is the only negative in your movie, then that tells you how good your movie is. Overall, We Live in Time (2024) definitely gave me what I wanted and I couldn’t be happier about it. If Garfield and Pugh don’t get nominations for their performances in this movie, then I will be very disappointed in the Academy. Regardless, if you’re looking for a romance movie that feels genuinely realistic in its approach to the story, then this is the movie for you.
