Chronology

An intergenerational story of families and the special place they live in, sharing love, loss, laughter and life. It was first published as a strip in the Raw comic magazine in 1989, and was expanded into a 300-page graphic novel in 2014. At one point early in the film, Richard’s father mentions the names of several towns that he claims are along the Pennsylvania Turnpike, when in fact they are towns on Interstate 80: n along PA, which had not yet been built at that time.

This is not a movie for everyone

It tries something different with a single focused camera angle and a story set over hundreds (or millions) of years. But this is also part of the problem that prevents him from achieving perfection.

It’s also a little overwhelming with how many things are happening in one space

We have a small amount of time for each part of the story, and most scenes take 1-5 minutes to complete before moving on to the next scene. It also takes a while to get into the heart of the story, if it had focused more on the main character group, the ending would have had a lot more impact. There was also a bit too much CGI that looked sloppy, and the focus on having the characters right in front of the camera in every scene felt too forced.
